Adoption Fees

Canine Adoption Fees

• Dogs (5 months and older): Start at Ksh 18,000*
• Puppies (under 5 months): Start at Ksh 36,000*

*A dog license must be purchased at the time of adoption – please add the county license to the final price. License fees vary depending on the dog’s age and time of adoption.

Feline Adoption Fees

• Cats (5 months and older): Ksh 8,500
• Kittens (under 5 months): Ksh 18,000

All cats and kittens are “Buy One, Get One Half-Off.” Cats must leave the shelter in a carrier. If you don’t bring one, you can purchase one at the shelter for Ksh 700.

Small Mammal Adoption Fees

• Rabbits: Ksh 5,500
• Ferrets: Ksh 10,500
• Chinchillas: Ksh 10,500
• Guinea Pigs: Ksh 4,200
• Mice: Ksh 1,400
• Rats: Ksh 2,100
• Parakeets: Ksh 3,500
• Hamsters: Ksh 1,400
• Gerbils: Ksh 1,400

Certain animals may have higher or lower adoption fees. Speak to our Adoption Associates for details. All dogs and cats adopted from Mr. Black are spayed or neutered, examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, and treated for fleas and worms. Dogs six months and older are heartworm-tested and receive preventive treatment. Cats and kittens are tested for FeLV and FIV.

Adoption Fees for Seniors

Mr. Black participates in a special program for Pets for the Elderly, allowing senior citizens to adopt companion animals at a reduced fee while funds last. This program creates a “happily ever after” for both the pets and their adopters!
